Uploading & Managing Custom Worlds

Transfer single-player worlds, adventure maps, or existing SMP builds into your OrynCloud server container without corrupted chunks or missing dimensions.

1. Vanilla vs Paper World Directory Structure

It is critical to understand how different Minecraft server engines store dimensions:

Vanilla / Singleplayer:

All dimensions live in one root folder:

world/\n region/ (Overworld)\n DIM-1/ (Nether)\n DIM1/ (The End)\n level.dat

Paper / Purpur:

Dimensions are separated into three sibling directories:

world/ (Overworld)\nworld_nether/ (Nether)\nworld_the_end/ (The End)

2. Zipping & Uploading Your World

  1. Stop your Minecraft server in panel.oryncloud.com.
  2. On your computer, open the world folder. Verify you see level.dat and the region/ folder directly inside it.
  3. Select all contents inside the world folder, right-click, and select Send to → Compressed (zipped) folder. Name it custom_world.zip.
  4. In the Pterodactyl File Manager (or via SFTP), upload custom_world.zip directly into the server root directory.
  5. Click the three dots next to custom_world.zip and select Unarchive.

3. Activating via level-name in server.properties

Tell the server which world folder to load:

server.properties
# Open server.properties
level-name=custom_world

Save the file and click Start in your console. The server will load your custom map immediately.

4. Resetting Nether & End Dimensions

When major Minecraft updates drop (e.g. new structures or biomes), you can refresh outer dimensions without resetting your overworld builds:

  • Using World Manager: Open the Worlds tab in your panel and click Reset Nether or Reset End.
  • Manual Method: Stop the server, delete the world_nether or world_the_end folder, and restart the server. Minecraft will generate fresh dimensions automatically.
