Pterodactyl Panel v2 Complete Guide

Master your OrynCloud Minecraft server using the Pterodactyl Panel v2 interface. Learn console controls, SFTP integration, Aikar’s optimization flags, and disaster recovery.

1. Pterodactyl v2 Overview

OrynCloud deploys modern Pterodactyl Panel v2 paired with our custom enterprise extension suite. It gives server owners zero-latency terminal commands, instant live statistics, and modular modpack support.

2. Console & Real-Time Monitoring

The console is your primary terminal interface to the server process:

Start / Restart / Stop: Gracefully signals the server process with SIGINT so chunks and inventory data are saved.
Kill: Immediately sends SIGKILL to terminate frozen or hung threads.
Live Graphs: Real-time CPU % utilization, RAM consumption, and network I/O spikes.

3. File Manager & SFTP

You can edit configuration files directly in the browser with code syntax highlighting, or connect using SFTP (Secure File Transfer Protocol) with FileZilla, Cyberduck, or WinSCP.

Connecting via SFTP

In Pterodactyl, navigate to Settings → SFTP Details. Use your panel password and the listed port (usually 2022).

4. Aikar’s JVM Startup Flags

For servers running Paper, Purpur, or Fabric, default Java garbage collection causes periodic lag spikes (micro-stutters). Aikar’s Flags configure the G1GC garbage collector for predictable, sub-millisecond pauses.

On OrynCloud, Aikar’s Flags are enabled by default across all Minecraft plans in the Startup tab!

5. Automated Backups & Schedules

Never risk losing your world data. Pterodactyl allows cron-based automated scheduling:

Go to Schedules → Create Schedule.
Set Cron: 0 4 * * * (Runs daily at 4:00 AM UTC).
Add Task: Send Command → say Daily backup starting....
Add Task: Create Backup with world and plugin locks.
