GitHub Webhook Auto-Deployment Guide

Eliminate manual SFTP uploads. Automatically pull updated code and restart your bot container whenever you run git push origin main.

1. Continuous Deployment Overview

The GitHub Manager extension exposes a secure webhook endpoint for your bot server. Whenever GitHub registers a code push on your designated branch, it notifies our webhook listener. Wings executes git pull inside the container and gracefully restarts the bot process.

2. Configuring the GitHub Webhook

  1. In panel.oryncloud.com, open your bot server and click GitHub Auto-Deploy.
  2. Copy your unique Webhook Payload URL and Secret Key.
  3. Navigate to your repository on GitHub → Settings → Webhooks → Add Webhook.
  4. Paste your Payload URL, set Content Type to application/json, and paste your Secret Key.
  5. Under “Which events would you like to trigger this webhook?”, select Just the push event. Click Add Webhook.

3. Targeting Main vs Staging Branches

In the panel configuration, specify your deployment branch (defaults to main). Pushes to experimental feature branches will be safely ignored, preventing untested code from reaching your production bot.

4. The Pull & Restart Lifecycle

Auto-Deploy Lifecycle
# Automatic steps executed on git push:
1. Validates GitHub HMAC-SHA256 signature
2. Runs: git pull origin main
3. Checks for package.json / requirements.txt changes
4. Restarts bot container with sub-second downtime
