Advanced Minecraft & Extensionspteroext-version-changer v2.4.0
1-Click Version Changer Guide
Upgrade to the latest Minecraft update or switch server software between Paper, Purpur, and Fabric in seconds without downloading or uploading jars manually.
1. What is the Version Changer?
The Version Changer extension integrates directly with official build APIs (PaperMC, PurpurMC, Fabric Meta). It fetches verified build artifacts from high-speed mirror caches inside our Noida datacenter, completing server jar replacements in sub-5-seconds.
2. Switching Versions in 3 Steps
- Stop your Minecraft server from the console.
- In the panel navigation, click on Versions.
- Choose your engine (e.g. Purpur) and release (e.g. 1.21.4). Click Install Version.
The panel downloads the verified jar, renames it to server.jar, updates your startup parameters, and prompts you to start the server.
3. Downgrading Warnings & Backup Best Practice
Minecraft Worlds Cannot Be Downgraded
Minecraft does not support loading worlds in an older version (e.g., loading a 1.21 world on 1.20). Doing so will cause block corruption. Always create a backup snapshot under the Backups tab before changing versions.
4. Automatic Java Runtime Alignment
When upgrading across major Java boundaries (e.g., from 1.16 on Java 8 to 1.21 on Java 21), ensure your container’s Docker Image in the Startup tab matches:
Recommended Java Docker Images

ghcr.io/pterodactyl/yolks:java_17 # For Minecraft 1.18 - 1.20.4Was this documentation page helpful?
