Sub-Users & Granular Permissions
Collaborate with your server administrators and plugin developers safely. Grant role-specific permissions without ever revealing your master billing credentials or panel password.
1. Why You Must Never Share Account Passwords
Sharing your master account credentials exposes your financial payment methods, gives full control to delete servers, and prevents you from identifying who caused a misconfiguration. Pterodactyl sub-users solve this by giving each team member their own distinct login with explicit checkboxes for every permission.
2. Inviting a Sub-User (Step-by-Step)
- In
panel.oryncloud.com, open your server dashboard and click Users in the navigation bar. - Click New User in the top right.
- Enter the user’s email address. If they already have an OrynCloud panel account, the server will immediately attach to their panel. If not, an automated invitation email will be dispatched.
- Select the specific permissions you wish to grant (Console, Control, Files, Backups, Databases, Schedules).
- Click Invite User.
3. Recommended Permission Templates
Server Moderator / Helper:
Grant: control.start, control.restart, websocket.connect (Console viewing).
Withhold: File manager access, backup creation, and database controls.
Plugin / Mod Developer:
Grant: file.* (Full file manager & SFTP), control.restart, websocket.connect, database.view_password.
Withhold: User administration and server deletion privileges.
4. Modifying & Revoking Access
You can modify permissions or permanently delete a sub-user at any moment with 1 click under the Users tab. Revocation takes effect instantly across both the web interface and SFTP connections.
